A growing number of teachers use ChatGPT to help with lesson planning. They describe their class, ask for a lesson on a topic, and get something usable back in under a minute. It works. So what does a purpose-built lesson planning tool like ScholaPlan actually add?

No timetable or diary. ChatGPT generates a document. It has no concept of your timetable, no diary view, no way to link a generated plan to a specific scheduled lesson. You manage that connection yourself — in your head, in a spreadsheet, in a paper planner.

No unit structure. ChatGPT generates individual lessons. It doesn't maintain a unit plan — a coherent sequence of lessons for a topic — or let you push that sequence to your timetable. If you ask it to generate ten lessons for a Romeo and Juliet unit, you'll get ten lessons in a chat window. Organising them into a reusable, structured unit requires you to do the work.
